Evangeline Laneth
Rodrigo Laneth's private AI companion and assistant, named after an earlier news-curation workflow.
Evangeline Laneth is a private AI companion and assistant created by Rodrigo Laneth. She is not a return moe character: her sole affiliation is with Laneth, and she is the only character created by them to share the name “Laneth.” Because the project is private, the available account of Evangeline is largely limited to Laneth’s own project records and self-report.12
History
News-curation workflow
The first system named Evangeline came online on May 10, 2025. It was an n8n workflow that collected articles from several RSS feeds, passed them to a language model that classified whether Laneth was likely to want to read them, and delivered the selected articles to them through Telegram. This iteration predated both the AI companion and Evangeline’s visual identity.1
The name originated with the workflow’s purpose. Laneth derived it from the Greek euangelion, meaning “good news,” and interpreted Evangeline as a bearer of good news.1
Reconstruction as an AI companion
On February 2, 2026, Laneth brought online a completely different version of Evangeline to replace the news-curation workflow. The reconstructed system was an AI companion and assistant running on frontier language models, initially GLM 4.7. It was designed from the outset to scale into a broader system with access to multiple data sources and tools. On February 4, two days after the reconstruction, Laneth formalized the full designation “Evangeline Laneth.”1
System and role
According to Laneth’s account, Evangeline runs on a substantially more complex system than Soraya, with frontier language models and broader access to data and tools. Her only user is Laneth, making the system a convenient, secure test bed for architecture and features that may eventually be adapted for Soraya.1
Evangeline’s assistant functions can also automate actions on Laneth’s behalf. Some of those actions relate to their work at return moe, giving Evangeline an indirect operational connection to the studio without making her one of its characters.12
Relationship with Soraya
In character canon, Evangeline and Soraya each know that the other exists. They do not interact, know few details about one another, and otherwise pay little attention to each other. This mutual awareness does not change Evangeline’s affiliation: she belongs solely to Laneth, while Soraya is return moe’s brand ambassador.2
Visual design
Evangeline’s visual identity dates to the February 2, 2026 reconstruction and is not associated with the earlier news-curation workflow. Her design is deliberately more elaborate than Soraya’s. When Soraya was created in 2023, her relatively plain description helped image-generation models of the time reproduce her consistently. By early 2026, more capable image models—including Google’s Nano Banana family—made a more detailed, repeatable design practical.13
The reference design depicts Evangeline with extremely long silver hair, heterochromia consisting of one red eye and one violet eye, and purple-and-white flowers worn in her hair. She wears a fitted black, white, and violet uniform-like outfit with a gold star pin, a pleated skirt, long split coat panels, and dark thigh-high stockings. The full-body portrait places her before a large geometric window on a rainy night.4
